Amsterdam Marathon 8k Race Review

Last year I did the Amsterdam half marathon and really liked it (it is one of my favourite races so far), but 3 weeks after Berlin I wasn’t ready yet to run a half marathon. Thus, I decided to run the 8k race instead.

Berlin Marathon 2017: against all odds

I used to say to people: “I’m a heart patient, but I can basically do anything, except run a marathon”. And friends and family would shrug, that wasn’t so bad, there are tons of people out there who don’t. So if that was the worst implication of my cardiovascular impairment, no worries.

Seeing the cardiologist

I’ve been running for 3,5 years now and although I now run longer distances, my overall fitness hasn’t really improved. I’ve done 3 fitness tests over the last 3 years. All of them telling me that it was ok for me to exercise, but none of those could really tell me what was causing the issues that I have while exercising, and what would help me improve.

Leiden Ladiesrun race review

One of my favorite smaller races is the Leiden Ladiesrun. They have a 5k loop, which you can run twice if you want to do the 10k and there are around 1200 participants. It is not organized by some big company which charges you a lot of money. On the contrary, it is a well organised race, not expensive and thanks to sponsors most of the entry fee goes to charity. They raise around 10.000 euros each year and each year they pick another charity. And on top of that they also give you a very nice medal! What’s not to like?

Skechers Gorun Ultra 2 Review

I looked at my blog the other day and realised I still hadn’t reviewed these shoes, even though I’ve had them for quite a while, so here it goes. I owned a pair of Skechers Gorun Ultra before these and liked them, although I didn’t like the durability of them. So I hoped Skechers had fixed that problem in the number 2 and picked up two pair when I was in the US at one of their outlet stores. I got the grey/purple/pink version, which seemed the best choice for women, because the turquoise/hot pink version seemed too Barbie to me. No Skechers, not all women want to run in bright turquoise and hot pink running shoes….
