Last year I did the Amsterdam half marathon and really liked it (it is one of my favourite races so far), but 3 weeks after Berlin I wasn’t ready yet to run a half marathon. Thus, I decided to run the 8k race instead.
I did this race 3 years ago, the 2nd race I ever did. I enjoyed the race the last time and decided to do it again, only this time as a training run for the Berlin Marathon.
One of my favorite smaller races is the Leiden Ladiesrun. They have a 5k loop, which you can run twice if you want to do the 10k and there are around 1200 participants. It is not organized by some big company which charges you a lot of money. On the contrary, it is a well organised race, not expensive and thanks to sponsors most of the entry fee goes to charity. They raise around 10.000 euros each year and each year they pick another charity. And on top of that they also give you a very nice medal! What’s not to like?
I looked at my blog the other day and realised I still hadn’t reviewed these shoes, even though I’ve had them for quite a while, so here it goes. I owned a pair of Skechers Gorun Ultra before these and liked them, although I didn’t like the durability of them. So I hoped Skechers had fixed that problem in the number 2 and picked up two pair when I was in the US at one of their outlet stores. I got the grey/purple/pink version, which seemed the best choice for women, because the turquoise/hot pink version seemed too Barbie to me. No Skechers, not all women want to run in bright turquoise and hot pink running shoes….
I was in Primark and saw an action camera for around €40. Since I can’t really afford a GoPro, I decided to give this action camera a go.
My go-to-shoe is the Skechers GoRun Ultra (v1 and v2). And I’ve heard a lot of people say that if you like Hoka, you’ll probably like the Skechers Ultra series. So, I got curious about the Hoka brand and decided to buy a pair of Hoka Bondi 4, which is supposed to be their max cushioning road shoe.

I have to say that I haven’t tried that many running shoes in my life, so I’m definitely not an expert. But I did do some research on the internet before buying my running shoes.
